ALASKAN KLEE KAI HISTORY

The Alaskan Klee Kai was developed in the 20th century. This breed is small and resembles the Siberian Husky and the Alaskan Malamute.

APPEARANCE

The Alaskan Klee Kai is available in three different sizes, Toy, Miniature and Standard. Toy Alaskan Klee Kai's measure up to 13 inches in height and weigh up to 9lbs. Miniature's measure 13-15 inches height and weigh 10-15lbs. Standard's measure 15-17 inches in height and weigh 16-22lbs. This breed has a triangular shaped face that tapers down to a narrow muzzle. Their two large ears are triangular in shape and stand firm. Their two eyes are large, round and black or brown or blue in color. Their tail is large and curls over their back. Their double coat of hair as a dense undercoat and is short in length. They are available in smooth or long coat. They are available in White, gray and white, black and white and red and white.

TEMPERAMENT

This breed is an extremely active and intelligent dog. They thrive when they have a job to do and are included in family activities. Known for being vocal, similar to the Husky, this breed may not be suitable for apartments. This breed is known for being loyal, curious and very playful. As always, we recommend positive reinforcement training methods and early socialization with pets and children to ensure a well rounded adult dog.

GROOMING

This breed does shed. Daily brushing and regular bathing is required.

SPECIAL NOTES

Please note that along with all other breeds, we highly recommend fully researching the breed you are interested in, prior to adding it to your family, to ensure a forever home. Do not add an Alaskan Klee Kai to your family unless you are fully able to meet their care and financial requirements. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Once a breeder has created acceptable “breed characteristics” within their bloodline and these “breed characteristics” have shown to be reliably reproduced in the offspring for three (3) generations, the bloodline may be upgraded from the category of “foundation stock” to “pure-bred”. The same “pure-bred” breed standards vary from different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.

Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2024. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.
