Breed History

Goldendoodles are one of the most popular dog breeds today. Chances are, whether you live in the city or the suburbs, you have one in your very own neighborhood. The Goldendoodle has a wonderful personality, is an active breed and has minimal shedding. This breed is available in Micro, Mini and Standard.

Breed Appearance

Standard Goldendoodles measure 21-25 inches in height, and weigh 65-80lbs. Miniature Goldendoodles measure 14-17 inches in height and weigh 25-35lbs. Micro Mini Goldendoodles measure under 12 inches in height and weigh up to 20lbs. This breed is available in over 20 different colors and combinations. Some include red, cream, apricot, chocolate, black, merle combinations, parti combinations, phantom and many more. Their hair can be wavy to curly. They have two triangular ears that are rounded at the corners and hang gently along their face. Their eyes are large, round and available in brown and black. Their nose can be brown, black or liver color. Their tail is generally curved upright.

Breed Temperament

The Goldendoodle has a wonderful personality for families of all sizes. We would like to note that the Goldendoodle is a working breed by nature, so daily training and activity is extremely important to avoid boredom and destructive behavior within the home. To ensure your Goldendoodle is friendly and accepting of children and other pets, we highly recommend early socialization and positive reinforcement training methods.

Breed Grooming

The Goldendoodle has minimal shedding. Due to their curly hair, daily brushing is necessary to avoid matting. Regular professional grooming is highly recommended.

Special Notes

This breed lives an average of 12-15 years. Do not add one to your family unless you are able to provide lifelong financial and physical care. A properly installed fence is highly recommended. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Once a breeder has created acceptable “breed characteristics” within their bloodline and these “breed characteristics” have shown to be reliably reproduced in the offspring for three (3) generations, the bloodline may be upgraded from the category of “foundation stock” to “pure-bred”. The same “pure-bred” breed standards vary from different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.

Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2024. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.
